About Chinatown in Boston:
It is a neighborhood located in Downtown Boston, Massachusetts. Ever since the Chinatowns in Providence, Rhode Island and Portland, Maine were shut down after the 1950s, it is the only one surviving in New England. A lot of Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants are located in Chinatown, due to the high population of Asians and Asian Americans living there. In Chinatown, you can live and eat like a real Chinese. Going to the small park beside the gate to watch the elderlies playing chess and cards; Buying a cup of bubble milktea after having Dim Sum for lunch; Visiting the Chinese supermarket looking for every ingredients you need to make a Asian cuisine… There are so much more to explore.
Why Chinatown?
As a student and traveler from Hong Kong who speaks Chinese, Chinatown is familiar like home yet a mysterious place to explore. I am curious of how people who are from the same place with me travel across the globe to settle down in Boston and start their new lives here, if you feel the same, let’s start the journey to Chinatown through my pictures.
